We ask our community and our collaborators to hold us accountable to it. We know this statement is a work-in-progress and a living document. The Mercury Store is a predominantly white organization. We believe in compensation for all artists and activists we ask to work on our behalf. The Mercury is the smallest circulation newspaper in the U.S. We believe People of Color do not need to explain themselves to a white audience. The Mercury is a daily newspaper published in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, United States. We are committed to an overarching program of reading and education to more fully understand the historical and ongoing effects of racial oppression. This land was built and developed on the uncompensated labor of enslaved black people. The Mercury Store sits on the unceded land of the Lenape and Canarsie Nations. We work to educate ourselves and our artists on the issues of the neighborhood including climate justice, affordable housing, and equal access to schools and culture. We are committed to playing our part in the present and future struggle against systemic and institutional racism, and white supremacy. The Mercury Store believes we must work harder to Stop Asian Hate. The Mercury Store believes Black Trans Lives Matter. We work to allow oppressed artists to tell their story as they wish to tell it. the Star Runner chassis sets new standards for data and cargo conveyance. All -isms and -phobias – racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, queerphobia – are abhorrent. The Mercury checks all the boxes expected of a dependable courier vessel. We protest against injustice and oppression everywhere. With an estimated 37.7 M people living with HIV/AIDS and 1.5 M more becoming newly infected with HIV in 2020 alone, the battle is far from over.įreddie was taken from us too young, but there is still time to make a difference and change the destinies of millions around the world.The Mercury Store is a space for artists to work in community. In fact, the more that is raised and the more donations we get in, the more our overheads go down. The current MPT overheads are just under 7p in the £/pound, which means that for each pound donated, over 93p goes to funding the work of the global charities FIGHTING AIDS WORLDWIDE - and we intend to keep it that way. The MPT predominantly funds smaller organizations it assesses and vets as they effectively work at grassroots level, where governments, larger NGOs and markets don’t often reach. The MPT has reached millions in the fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide, providing £17 M to over 1.5 K projects in 57 countries (and counting!). The Trust is a core part of rock band Queen and Freddie’s legacy, with the passion and power behind the music forming the bedrock of the MPT. Following the moving and hugely successful Tribute Concert in 1992, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Jim Beach set up The Mercury Phoenix Trust (MPT) in memory of the iconic Freddie Mercury who died from HIV/AIDS in 1991. ![]()
